Design Challenge: Convert a Rite Aid into a Daycare

iKid Academy was a 13,500 square foot remodel of a vacant Rite Aid pharmacy store located in Centennial, Colorado.

The design incorporated reusing existing mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems where possible. This is included existing rooftop units, electrical services and plumbing mains.
The existing HVAC system was provided with new variable volume/variable temperature terminal boxes for additional zone control.

A commercial kitchen was added to the building to provide fresh meals for the kids and staff. This required a new commercial kitchen hood system complete with make-up air, grease and dishwasher exhausts along with a below-floor grease trap.

The architectural design incorporated intricate reading coves, entry ways and unique lighting fixtures to highlight these areas. 3 Consulting Engineers worked closely with Hover’s interior design department to ensure a lighting design that could not be overlooked.
