Design Challenge: Convert a Walmart Neighborhood Market into a Multi-Use Church

The design incorporated reusing existing mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems where possible. This is included existing rooftop units, electrical services and plumbing mains.

The church included a worship center, church related classrooms space for children and adults, office space and a high school sized gymnasium. Audio/Visual and Acoustical Consultants were also part of the design team and 3 Consulting Engineers worked diligently to ensure their visions for the Church were incorporated into the final product.

Storyline Fellowship Church wanted a great space that they could be proud of for years, but couldn’t afford to start from scratch. In order to provide a great final product, modifications to existing MEP systems and much coordination, on site and between disciplines, was needed to ensure the designed loads, comfort and aesthetics were meeting expectations.

After approximately six months of design time, the project was built in approximately eight months on budget. The church opened their doors on schedule and have been enjoying their new home ever since.
